I remember first visiting the showroom for The Melville back in 2004. I was a tad late getting there (it had been open for months) and there was not much left. I also remember being struck by the warmth of the design and the spaciousness of the layouts.

This may seem like a bit of a surprise given the state of condo design today but I tell you that nothing was lost between the pre-sale promise and the final execution. The Melville was completed late in 2007 and every bit of luxury and beauty remained intact. It’s an old cliche to “under-promise and over-deliver” yet that is exactly what they have done. The exterior is beautiful, from the ground floor with its large wood beams, all the way up to the copper spire outlined in a neon glow. What that spire hides is a privilege for the owners; a roof-top lap pool, garden, and gym facilty looks out 360 degrees from what equates to the 45th floor. I don’t need to tell you that the views are fantastic, even on a cloudy day.

Of course, every unit itself is well adorned with all the trappings you would expect to find in a high-end building from floor to ceiling windows, hardwood floors, spacious layouts, double thick granite counters with high end appliances with a double door fridge and a gas cooktop, porcelain tile in the kitchen and bathroom, and a very fast, very smooth elevator to take you from the 24 hour concierged lobby to your suite. There is also a well appointed meeting room, theatre, a party room with billiards table, and an outdoor play area for the little ones.

Kwasnicky Architects are responsible for the whole unique feel of the place in design and Amacon are the developers and builders.

In terms of location it really is hard to beat for the value. Just two blocks from the seawall in the heart of Coal Harbour with top restaurants, marinas, and cafes all nearby. The Urban Fare is just one block away to stock your fridge with delectables and necessities. The financial district and the bulk of offices are just a few blocks East. Entertainment, Dining, Shopping, are all in proximity to your new home at the Melville.
