The new convention centre that we have sitting right downtown near Coal Harbour is a true masterpiece in every sense of the word. For those who haven’t been down to see what our tax money went to I suggest you go and see it for yourself.
It’s the kind of place that requires (and will naturally demand) conteplation of the design. I’m sure guided tours will start up there as much of what went into the creation of this space is, perhaps, easy to miss or disregard.
Take, for example, the living green roof. This documentary video goes into further detail of not only the logistics and design but also some of the background on getting the public official’s support.
