Excuses, Excuses

posted in Life |

Where did all the posting go?  I used to post near every day yet lately it’s down to maybe one per week.  Why is that?

Time, or lack there of, I should say.

After suffering through a rather average winter, average only in the amount of rain and grey days, the sun has come out and it has been stellar for the past two weeks.  I got my first sunburn at the Cloverdale Rodeo last Saturday and have been attending as many BBQ’s and birthday parties as I can.

On top of that I and my business partner, Aaron Leung, have launched a real estate marketing firm specializing in crafting marketing material for selling real estate.  Arbutus Design does laser measured floor plans, professional photography, and in the future much more.  I was already using such services for my own listings so this is a vertical integration, you might say.  In any case, since we really ramped up the launch a little over a week ago business has been booming.

We started with floor plans and photography as those two pieces of marketing have by far the greatest impact in communicating the suitability and desire to the buyer.  These are laser measured and then drafted out in CAD and the quality is outstanding.  Looks like we will be needing to hire some more technicians as the word spreads.

Right now, I am sitting in Turks Coffee House on Commercial Dr.  It’s absolutely gorgeous outside with blue skies and the trees of Grandview Park full of Spring green.  It’s short and t-shirt weather but I will be attending an inspection for what must be the best piece of property a client has (may be) buying to date.  I love the Drive and would live here in a heartbeat.  So much character, so much good food, so much to do… but really, it’s the neighbourhood and the people who live here (many of them very long term residents) who make the Drive what it is.

Recommended food:  Memphis Blues (Lunch is the better than dinner) for outstanding BBQ.  Frederico’s Supper Club for outstanding entertainment by Frederico.  Shopping at Santa Barbara for outstanding deli and cheese.  Turks for outstanding coffee.  For everything else just walk between Venables and Broadway and take your pick.  You pretty much cannot go wrong here.
