What is your Walkscore

Get on your Feet

We all know downtown is a great place to live and that if you do not have a car you’re probably going to be just fine.  How fine?  Why don’t we find out.  There’s a terrific little site (ok, using the word little is just me being quaint, the site is huge and the resources it taps are just as big but the site is simple to use) called Walkscore.com which will take an address within a major city and crossreference it with Googlemaps and Yelp (a user contributed review site) to gie your address a walkability score.  The calculation is based on a scale from 0-100 with a perfect walkability being 100 (and a number I imagine would be near impossible to achieve as not everything can be at your doorstep but they certainly can be close).

Walker’s Paradise

I ran the score metrics on my listing at 933 Hornby, the Electric Avenue, and was not surprised to see a walkscore of 98/100!  It is considered a walker’s paradise.  I wonder, though, what the missing two points are.

My townhouse in Coquitlam got a 63/100, not too bad for the suburbs :)
