Jameson House Rendering

Foster and Partners, the famed architects famous for elevating the art of design, are finally putting their mark on downtown Vancouver (and North America, for that matter) with this very unique luxury highrise designed by lead architect Nigel Dancey.

It is also a very Green development. Features include:

  • The building will generate its own power and have a water recycling system.
  • Structure was designed to LEED Gold standards.
  • The building features Vancouver’s first cogeneration plant, which is powered by bio-diesel.
  • The building’s exterior form and design of the façade have been determined by the direction of prevailing winds as well as solar exposure.
  • Photovoltaic cells are employed on the south façade where there is maximum exposure to sunlight.

As well as the shiny and new the design is also incorporating the historical buildings that surround it into the design with a carefully considered restoration of the Ceperly Rounsfell Building and the facade of the Royal Financial Building.

Interior Jameson House“We firmly believe in our sustainable agenda,” Dancey says. “It’s not appropriate with all our clients, but this is a pretty enlightened client. With this project, you have the retention of a heritage site and you are dealing with a mixture of retail and office space in a downtown setting. It becomes a compelling project because it addresses so many themes we strongly believe in.”

Another first for North America: The building’s underground parking facilities are augmented by a European-style, fully-automated non-pallet parkade where cars are mechanically stacked and racked and can be retrieved in around 90 seconds

A few more unique benefits of owning in the 131-unit project is membership to Vancouver’s elite Terminal City Club, 24-hour concierge service, and available touchscreen panel controls for home entertainment, lighting, heating and security.
