UPDATE:  Currently just a hole in the ground with no real promise of being built.  News says the developer has ceased construction though the sales centre remains open right now.

All we know so far is the location (on the edge of Strathcona and Chinatown in the nice part of the Downtown Eastside – a lot of heritage buildings and a very pretty neighbourhood which surprises those who never turn off of Hastings or Venables).

    Hi Will,

    I’ve seen this development site and watched them break ground recently. It’s going to a stellar location. If folks visiting the site want to know a bit about this area, the Live In Strathcona community site is a good place to get a real sense of the neighbourhood, the people, through written work and photographic journeys. It will help them form an idea of the potential.

    http://liveinstrathcona.com – it is undergoing a serious redesign so it may seem awkward if you do want to join and post something. In a month or so, that will change and residents will be able to interact much more with the site.

      Yes, I agree it’s going to be a very interesting project and have been getting quite a few inquiries on it. Nice to see how the project is taking shape and how the neighbourhood (once overlooked) has really taken off while maintaining its character.

    I live down the street from this development. Interesting that it’s namesake is also the postal code for the Canada’s poorest neighbourhood… V6A 4J7, also know as the downtown east side. BTW it’s not located in Strathcona, it’s situated in Vancouver’s rat infested Chinatown. Welcome to the neighbourhood!

      As of Nov 25 08, it is indeed a hole in the ground, soon to be a big duck pond. No workers on the site, everything is shut down. I guess the completion date is being pushed a decade or so.

      • And it has been updated again! With all good news for both those looking for a new, affordable home in the city, and those who were concerned about the hole in the ground left from the stall. I’m going to a promo event tomorrow where they’ll not only be pimping the renewed project but also encouraging sales with a further 2% discount. If anyone is interested, let me know!
